Master Peter Lewis, 5th Dan

Filipino Martial Arts and Self Defence Consultant

Master Lewis' journey in martial arts began on 13 January 1973 and has encompassed many thousands of hours of dedication and total commitment, learning from the very best in their field during the past 40 years. Constantly seeking to overcome his own limitations, his journey has taken him from Judo and Karate, through Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, Jiu Jitsu and Iai-Do, to finding a spiritual home in the Filipino Martial Arts in 1994. In 2005 he was awarded the title of ‘Punong Guro’ (Master or Teacher of Teachers) by the highly respected Grandmaster Epifanio ‘Yuli’ Romo.

With a driving passion to discover the most practical applications, his interest in self-protection has spanned 30 years. In this time, he believes he has been very lucky to freely share my knowledge with survivors of domestic violence, rape or sexual abuse. Additionally, he has supported nurses, police and prison officers as well as members of the general public interested in living safely and without fear. Master Lewis' areas of special interest include:

  • Knife or edged weapon defence
  • Stick or impact weapon defence
  • Close-quarter destructive strategies
  • Restraint and physical control methods
  • Multiple attacker scenarios
  • Conflict resolution
